The motion congratulates Edinburgh in winning the top spot at the Green Flag Awards 2023.

That the Parliament congratulates Edinburgh for claiming the top spot at the Green Flag Awards 2023 by the environmental charity, Keep Scotland Beautiful; celebrates the capital as being the local authority with the highest number, 38, of parks and greenspaces across the city; understands that the Green Flag Award scheme recognises parks and greenspaces with excellent management, adherence to environmental standards, and their benefits to communities; further understands that the capital ranks third in the whole of UK in terms of its total Green Flag Awards; thanks the local council for managing 35 of these parks and greenspaces, as well as the Friends of Corstorphine Hill (Corstorphine Hill LNR Community Walled Garden), NHS Lothian (Royal Edinburgh Hospital), and Heriot Watt University (The Lawn & Central Woodlands) for their excellent management of the remaining three awarded parks respectively, and welcomes Edinburgh’s continuing efforts and commitment to maintaining healthy spaces for residents to be close to nature within the city.
